I attend a church that believes in God speaking through people to other people. Some people call it prophesy; others call it words of encouragement. Basically the belief is that God isn’t limited to the Bible (though that’s the touchstone), but He and His voice is alive.
As I was sitting in service last Sunday, a young man behind me asked to share something with me that he felt God wanted me to know. This doesn’t happen a much – at least to me. I had no problem with it – worst case is he (the young man) is completely wrong, and I walk away. Best case is my life is completely changed.
I don’t remember every word he spoke, but he started with, “It’s was all worth it,” and then he repeated that same phrase, “It was all worth it.” Immediately The Collective popped into my mind.
I’ve shared in the past this has been a learning process and has included daily highs and lows. I worry about how successful The Collective (and in turn I) will be. I worry about whether I’ll make any money. I worry about how many people actually read what I and others write.
On the other hand, I love it when I see The Collective Weekly list has grown. I love seeing new submissions come into my inbox. I love the new comments on from all of you on posts that connect with you. I love finding and sharing new ideas and thoughts. I love being challenged.
I’m sure that you can relate to how I feel if you’ve ever created a new business, started a big new project, or ever had a vision of something beyond you.
The toughest part of stating a new project is for the most part you are alone. While hopefully you have a few people who are on board with you, it’s not the same as them being completely invested into the project. They aren’t consumed with what’s next, what’s working, what’s failing.
I have people who I can turn to for encouragement, but it’s nice to have something that comes from beyond me. It’s nice to have God encourage me. It’s nice to know that it’s all worth it.
I hope that you have that type of assurance in what you are doing. If not, feel free to shoot me an email, look me up on Facebook or send me a Tweet. I’ll encourage you as much as I can.
If you don’t have the guts to do that, then let me tell you. It’s worth it. Whatever your dealing with, fighting through, struggling with. It’s worth it. No matter if you succeed or fail in the exact project you’re working on, you’ll grow.
It’s all worth it.

This post hit at the precise right time for me today Andy. So much worry, so much frustration. A good reminder to keep the faith. Thanks for bringing The Collective. It is great!

Jeri –
Glad the timing was right. Sometimes the most important thing in life is timing. The great thing is that life moves on. Things will change and move on. Like you said…keep the faith, what you’re doing is worth it!

With this economy it seems that everything is a struggle.
With such a large slowdown, for me, I find that it is time to look elsewhere than myself for answers. God is a good place to start.

Bob,
Just want to encourage you that there is hope. I agree that God is a good place to start in your search. I think you’ll find answers, and while it’s rough right now…it will get better.
