Remember when?
All my adult life, I’ve regularly come into contact with people who are longing for the “good ole days.” I meet people who want to go back in time with their:
- Politics
- Church
- Photography
- Business
- Sports
- Children
- Marriages
- Finances
- Looks
- Standing
No matter what you say to convince them otherwise, there is always something better about “those days” as compared to the current. I’ve stopped trying to change these peoples minds. It’s not worth it.
Don’t give in!
It’s a God thing to fight against those thoughts and feelings. Don’t believe me? Check this out:
”And when your land is once more filled with people,” says the Lord, “you will no longer wish for ‘the good old days’ when you possessed the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant. You will not miss those days or even remember them, and there will be no need to rebuild the Ark. – Jeremiah 3:16
Jeremiah prophecies there is coming a time when the Ark of the Covenant wouldn’t be missed.
That’s THE Ark of the Covenant. The one that the Spirit of God resided in inside the Temple. The Ark David’s prophets reached out, touched and killed instantly. The one Moses created through the intimate directions from God Himself.
The future will be better (and different) than the past.
Jeremiah said a time was coming when people would say, “Ah…who needs it? We’ve got something better!” And they would be right.
If it’s true with something as holy and pure as the Ark of the Covenant, how can it not be true with most other things in life?
Let me promise you, there is coming a time when we have something so much better than the good ole days! In fact, it very well may be here right NOW. We can’t see it if all we’re looking for is a replica of the past.
Stopping waiting, looking and longing for the good ole days.
Start living and loving today.
