This may be it, it may be time to hang up the Fantasy Football cleats. I’ve been playing fantasy sports for the past 10 year or so (starting out with NBA Basketball – truthfully still my favorite. Long enough ago that it was done before the internet and involved getting spreadsheets in the mail on a weekly basis. I looked at the newspaper to figure my daily scores. 10 years is a long time ago now!), and this may be the worst. I’m in two different leagues – one has 12 teams (the top 8 making the playoffs) the other has 20 teams (yes 20, and the top 16 make the playoffs). This week began the beginning of the playoffs – I’m out in both leagues.
I stink. In the smaller league I started getting a little better – luck mainly – but not nearly good enough to get into the playoffs. Last week I needed to win and win by like 60 points to get in. I lost. I lost by at least 20 points. In the other league, I was in trouble from the beginning. With 20 teams in the league it was nearly impossible to get a decent team (since I was relying on the autodraft). To compound my horrible draft, it was impossible to get anyone to help out along the way. I started the season without a starting quarterback on my roster. I ended up with Jeff Garcia and Kerry Collins. My lone bright spot were my RB’s. I had Clinton Portis and Reggie Bush. But Reggie was hurt a good portion of the season and I went into a tailspin.
All of that to say, I think I’ve lost the fire. I can go days and days with out even thinking about football. I don’t even worry about the box scores, much less the in game scores. I’m in the middle of watching Monday Night Football (can I just say what a waste of a show this is now. I used to love MNF, and now I can’t hardly stand to watch it. It’s pretty bad when you are yearning to listen to Dan Dierdorf!), and this is about the 4th game (putting together all the snippets) I’ve seen all year.
I’ve got a whole year to forget this year’s showing, so I may be back. Who knows…time heals all wounds as they say. I just may forget this debacle of a year, but not likely, so consider this my resignation from the game.

Ha! I was just thinking how I was getting used to MNF.
Dont worry, my team stinks too. although I am in our playoffs. I hate large groups of teams! Really….Joey Harrington!!!
