I was called out.
My friend (via the internet world) Elizabeth Simmons called me out on her blog Out to Lunch… a couple of weeks ago.
She describes this as a ‘meme’
“Memes” are cultural symbols and social ideas that spread virally. In the same way that a flu bug travels from person to person, memes travel through social media and email.” (via About.com)
Meme or not, I am going to play. Quite honestly, I’m glad that I am. To participate, I had to go through the old photo albums and yearbooks. That’s always fun.
My list of 10.
Without further ado, here are 10 things you don’t know about me.
1. I was a big wheel All Star.
It takes a special person to wear plaid pants. Only one who is destined to be greatness on a Big Wheel can wear that outfit.
2. I worked as a Cracker Barrel grill cook.
Kia and I had just gotten married, and I didn’t have a job. She applied to wait tables at the brand new Cracker Barrel in town.
I applied to wash dishes, but they saw greatness in me (see #1). I was moved straight to the grill line. The rest is history.
3. I was born in Wisconsin.
Oddly enough, I’ve been back only once (okay – I’ve been through the Milwaukee airport several times). Don’t worry Wisconsin. I’ll be back again. My parents may hate you…I don’t.
4. I’ve never been to Europe.
I’ve been to Central and South America. I’ve been to the Caribbean. I’ve never been to Europe (or Asia). It’s on my bucket list (that I don’t really have).
5. I was the Homecoming King at my high school.
Don’t get too excited. I had like 33 kids in my class. Assuming half were girls, my odds weren’t that outstanding. Still, I understand if you are impressed.
6. My first time on the internet was a disaster.
I signed up for the college computer lab to get online. I hadn’t never been online before. This was like 1995, so yes, I’ve come a long way.
I remember acting like I knew what was going on, and declined the assistant’s help. Big mistake. I tried to figure out the world wide web on my own. No luck. I left 5 minutes later in shame.
7. At best, I’m the 2nd smartest person in my family.
Kia was valedictorian of her high school and college class (which I was in). She’s tested to be a near genius on an IQ test. She scored a 34 on her ACTs.
Based on #5 & 6 you can see Kia married me for my looks. Just another trophy husband…
8. I once owned a cat named “Sir Thomas Pussycat of the Pussycat Brigade”
Seriously. My family was really into the Narnia series at the time. Don’t worry, I didn’t run around calling him that. His common name was Tommy.
9. I’ve never been called to jury duty (but secretly want to).
My history/social science teachers must have done a great job (Thanks Mr Hoduski!). I’ve always thought it would be a lot of fun. Guess that’s the way the ball bounces.
10. I’m the worst tooth fairy of all time.
Through my kids tears, I try to tell them the Tooth Fairy didn’t get our or email. I don’t know if I can handle the stress anymore. There should be a upfront payment of $20 or something.
BONUS. I have occasionally rocked the handlebar mustache.
Enough said.
Yeah, I’m talking to you.
So there you have it. 10 things I’m sure you didn’t know about me before today.
Part of the game is to tag other people to share their own lists. So here are my challenges:
- John D Pyle. The king of social media. This is something his clients will eat up.
- Jen Basford/Seniors Ignite. A great new resource for senior photographers led by Jen Basford. I hope she does this.
- Michael Hyatt. I doubt he’ll even see this, but I would love to see his list of 10.
- Donald Miller. Again, I don’t know if he’ll see this, but his list would have to be killer.
- Antisdel’s Photography – Kia Bondurant, I dare you to come up with a list!
If I didn’t name you, I still dare you to take this on. It’s a fun project that your clients will most likely really enjoy. Remember…it’s all about you!

I love it!! Thanks for playing along, Andy!
(I think you should rock the plaid pants AND the ‘stache for 2012…)

Honestly, it’s one of the more fun things I’ve done on The Collective in a while. Thanks for calling me out 🙂 Let’s see if we can get some others to jump in.

Ha ha! That is great! The plaid pants rock…..they are making a comeback.
Andy Bondurant says
Yes…plaid pants. I don’t know if they’ll make the full comeback. We can only hope…

You are seriously my newest mentor – even though you don’t even know me (LOL). Found you on PTF (been a member there several years). You know so much about all the things I know the LEAST about. I think my photography has come a long way in the 5 years I’ve been in business, but seriously my SM skills are, at best, amateur (really, they kind of s__k). I didn’t know how little I knew about SEO, Twitter, the importance of blogging, and I feel like I’m spinning my wheels. Seriously, I just started using Twitter – I must be the last person on the planet. So, I’m reading through all your posts trying to figure out all these things I don’t know … and I run across this article “10 things” … thanks for the reminder that you shouldn’t let things get between yourself and having fun! Great article. Made me smile 🙂 … see, I’m smiling …

Wow! I ams seriously honored by your comments. We tend to appear much more knowledgable about things to those who don’t know much at all about it…but I’ll take the credit 🙂
Definitely have some fun with your blog. If you don’t who will!
