Our NOW world.
We live in an immediate world. We can expect so much right now – fast food, microwaves, ATMs, text messages, online bill pay, video & audio streaming. Sometimes it’s difficult when something literally can’t be NOW.
It’s the only way, I can explain how an email like this has anyone bite:
WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER
ITALY PAY-OUT CENTERDear Western Union Beneficiary,
UNITED NATIONS PAYMENT NOTIFICATION.
We wish to inform you that the United Nations (UN) has authorized us to remit to you a total amount of $500,000.00, (Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars).
Your Cash prize was paid out to us by the United Nations, and they have successfully succeeded in depositing your whole funds with us Here at Western Union Italy.
It goes on to ask for my information including bank account info.
How does anyone fall for something like this? My only explanation is people are desperate for an answer to their money problems NOW.
Blessed to be a blessing
One of the goals/visions I have for my life and family is the ability to be generous. This will only come through a long-term approach to life. It’s not a NOW thing.
More and more, I’ve been taking the approach that I’m blessed to bless others. I’m blessed with gifts, talents, abilities, training, finances, resources and more, so I need to bless others in kind.
To drive home this vision for my life, God keeps putting cool stories in my path. Just within the last couple of weeks, I’ve read these 2 amazing stories:
It starts NOW
I may not be able to give $5,000 tips, but I can be generous. I can give more than I take. I can be more than generous with my time and talents. I don’t have to wait.
This I can do now.
KC Bob says
Good stuff Andy. Reminds me that Brother Ernie once said that Christians should not pray at a restaurant if they will not be generous when they tip. Since then I have tried to live a bit more generous.
