The past is the past…
But Jephthah said to them, “Aren’t you the ones who hated me and drove me from my father’s house? Why do you come to me now when you’re in trouble?”
“Because we need you,” the elders replied. -Judges 11:7-8
Jephthah was from the wrong side of the tracks. Actually he was from the wrong kind of woman – his mother was a prostitute. That didn’t make him very popular in his town…much less his family (among his half-siblings). He was kicked to curb…run out of town.
God didn’t care. God took this reject, and made him into a warrior. More importantly, God made Jephthah into a leader.
Thankfully, Jephthah accepted the call. The past was over. The future was now.
When the right time came, Jephthah asked an honest and valid question. But he asked not out of anger or spite; it was a sign of confidence. We know it because the answer was just as honest from the town fathers, and Jephthah jumps in.
Jephthah leads.
…so forget your past.
You are needed. There is a group of people out there looking for exactly what you have. It’s time you forget all the “reasons” you aren’t a leader. It doesn’t matter what your background is. It doesn’t matter who your parents are. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done.
People need you, so lead.
Be honest and ask valid questions, and lead when the answers are just as honest. You’re ready.
You’re needed.
