I posted the other day about being devoted to creating art.
In my mind, that means you take the time to:
- decipher what you love.
- devote time to do what you love.
I believe that we are all bent toward different ways of creation. Some may be bent toward creating art through photography, oil paint, words, etc. Others may be inclined to create art via business, technology, or fixing cars. Whatever it is that you have been born to create, you need to take the time to create it.
Too often we get caught up in what is ultimately meaningless activities. Whether it’s looking at YouTube for an hour, wasting 15 minutes on Twitter, reading a book to distract you from what you need to be doing or taking pictures because there are sessions booked (and not pushing to do more).
Here’s an example in action of doing what you love
Jeremy Cowart is a photographer I had the pleasure of meeting a few years ago before we scheduled him to speak for spa Event at the Hotel del Coronado. He is an artist. He loves to create. Interestingly, if you follow him on Twitter, you’ll notice that he seems to fall into the same trap as everyone else – getting caught up in life, and not creating art.
He published this short video of a day of him simply creating art – one piece. It was freeing to watch, and I have to imagine it was freeing to create.
I encourage you to take 5 minutes to watch it. As you view it, be inspired to create your own art. Whatever that is.
