The Tower Heist
During my recent trip out of town, I watched the movie Tower Heist. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a comedy about a group of misfits who come together in Robin Hood fashion to take from a Wall Street mogul and distribute to those who were cheated out of their life savings.
One of the things I enjoyed is the diversity of characters…
- The big talk, little action leader.
- The unsure buddy.
- The bumbling newcomer.
- The defeated, but brilliant ex-millionaire.
- The small-time crook
All of these diverse characters come together for a common good. They join forces to do together what they could never do on their own.
It all started with one guy and one BIG plan.
God wants to include us in His BIG plans!
If you are reading along with the Cross Points Church devotions, you’ll know we are reading through the story of Abraham right now. Last week, it was the story of God asking Abraham’s opinion on the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
God first has an interesting dialogue with Himself on whether to tell Abraham his plans for Sodom. God ultimately decides to include Abraham because He wanted Abraham to feel the responsibility of being the chosen
God ends this internal discussion and includes Abraham with this phrase,
“So the Lord told Abraham…”
God not only tells Abraham his plans, but Abraham actually contributes (read the entire story in Genesis 18).
God wants to include you and I, the bumbling newcomers, unsure buddies and small-time crooks, into His BIG plan. More than just including us, He gives us real authority and responsibility in His plan. He is gives roles that matter. Roles that hinge on our participation.
Your role in His BIG plan.
Okay, so I don’t know exactly what your role is in God’s plan. I do know part of your role is raising your child.
In fact, it may the be the MOST important part you play in your life. Your child could be the next Billy Graham, Florence Nightingale or George Washington.
Knowing this…are you listening for what the Lord is telling you? What is your BIG plan in 2014?
