So many things to be thankful for…
How many times have you heard that. How many times have you said it? Do we really mean it? Why does it take something like Thanksgiving, a once a year holiday, for us to truly consider it?
This year, I have an even different perspective on what I have to give thanks for. A little over a week ago, a friend, a casual friend, but a friend none-the-less, passed away in a car accident. He attended the same church as us, until he and his family moved to Minnesota recently. He is only a few years younger than I am, and leaves a wife and two young boys, basically the same ages as my two boys.
Life, being alive, is a pretty basic thing to be thankful for. I’m thankful for life. I’m thankful that I’m still here to take care of my family. I’m thankful that my sons still have a father to love on (and irritate at times). I’m thankful that my wife can plan on me walking through the door tonight and tomorrow.
If you think about it today, say a short prayer for the family that Dana left behind. Say a short prayer of thanks that you get to spend time with your family today.
