Lies: It’s too late

I recently finished the book, Live No Lies by John Mark Comer. The premise of the book is there is a real Devil who wants to destroy me, you and the world. Satan does this through lies. He speaks lies to us, but more importantly Satan baits us into telling lies to ourselves. 

The lie I speak to myself is infinitely more powerful than a lie spoken to me from any outside voice (though that may be the initial source of the lie I speak to myself).

Here is a lie I find myself speaking to my own heart: It’s too late. Your time has passed.

It’s not an uncommon lie. It’s the same lie many of us speak to ourselves. You may have told yourself the exact same thing recently. The only twist on this lie is how early we speak it to ourselves now. It’s why we say, “50 is the new 40.” We don’t want to believe the lie, so we create a new lie to battle the first. 

The better way to battle lies is speaking truth. 

Here is the truth: Until I die, I have something to contribute. 

Here’s another truth: God has given me promises not yet fulfilled, and God is faithful to His promises. 

Here is one more truth: 65 does not signal the end of my story.
