Vision
My 2014 Word of the Year is VISION. I want a clear picture of what I see and God sees for my life.
Part of the reason I chose that word was I wanted to dream bigger and bolder. To this point, it’s been more systematic thinking about what it means to have vision for my life. A lot of it is tied to Andy Stanley’s book Visioneering.
Here are 4 posts you might want to read about finding your own vision:
Bigger and Bolder
None of that really gives me a picture of bigger and bolder. It’s not really a dream.
This week, I encountered a dream that is bigger and bolder than me. This week, I attended a Dave Ramsey conference for churches. The conference was held in Louisville, Kentucky at Southeast Christian Church.
Southeast Christian is easily the largest church I’ve ever set foot in. The campus is eminence – including a full workout facility and admin building for over 300 employees. The main church building includes an auditorium that seats over 9,000 people.
Dream.
The people of Southeast were more than welcoming. They took us on a 2 hour tour of the entire facility, including the auditorium. As I walked on the stage, I had this overwhelming feeling…thought…dream.
What would it be like to preach in this room?
Then,
I want to preach in a room like this.
Big and Bold.
That is a dream way beyond me. I don’t know how, but it’s not about the how. It’s about the what.
I need that dream. I need other dreams just as big and just as crazy. It’s what Jim Collins famously terms a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal).
Now it’s not just a dream, it’s a goal. I’ve written it down. I’ve not just written it down, but I’m publishing it for the world to see.
2014 is all about vision for me…big and bold vision.
What is 2014 about for you? What is your word of the year? What is your dream?
